How will this information aid my travel?
This site is one tool in the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) traveler information toolbox. Travelers can use this site for trip planning, assisting with their daily commute, navigating around closures, and avoiding traffic snarls.
How does the Web site work?
Information on this Web site is provided by the Iowa DOT’s highway operations support center, which gathers information from DOT personnel from around the state, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What types of incidents are listed on the site?
It could be a flooded or snow blocked roadway, traffic crash, disabled vehicle or one of dozens of other traffic-related incidents that happen every day on our roadways. The site offers information about incidents that:
- Occur on highways maintained by the Iowa DOT – interstate, U.S. or “Iowa” roadway.
- Happen any time of the day or day of the week.
- Restrict or impair traffic movement.
- Happen anywhere in Iowa.
Why are some traffic incidents not listed on the Web site?
A traffic incident will appear on this site if the Iowa DOT is aware and involved in the incident; there is a direct impact to travelers, which is expected to last more than a limited amount of time; and the traffic volume of the roadway and nature of the incident is expected to result in a significant traffic impact.
